The Magnetic Field

Around the planet Mala, just like Earth, is a magnetic field. However, this Field is amazingly strong. Much stronger then that of Earth. The precise reason why is so much more is largely unknown, if it is explainable at all. Like the curious phenomenon of Shifting, it might not have a explanation that follows the laws of physics as we know them at all.

Effects

Flying

The Fei, Drakynkind, and other flying species have all evolved to have much greater metal content in the skeleton, specifically iron, copper, and zinc, which all have magnetic properties. This hightened metal content is thought to give the flying species easier, and more controlled flight, as the magnetic currents around the poles pull these metals upwards, negating the downward pull of gravity, and helping to move the otherwise massive body-weights of these creatures. Likewise, the nearer to the equater, this effect is reversed, and these creatures are not buoyed, but instead, dragged down.

Floating Isles

Another strange result of the magnetic field's power is the levitation of iron ore-rich chunks of land. This only occurs near and on The North Pole.
