Cormorant's Bay
Cormorant's Bay is an inlet of the Sea of Tempests, around which the free city of Damarask is built. It gets its name from the profusion of sea birds that roost in the rocky bluffs, dive into its waters, and feast upon its crabs at low tide.
The bay is large enough to accommodate two sets of piers, located in the Tender and Sideways Warren districts of Damarask. Only the docks in the Tender are in water deep enough to hold large vessels, however, as the lower tides pull back from the bay and reveal a large length of slate and rock strewn shoreline in the docks off of the Warren.
Geography
The Bay is half surrounded by rocky bluffs to the north and south that comprise the edges of the Tender and Brasspot districts of Damarask repectively. Its interior is much shallower and closer to sea level, allowing the citizens of the Sideways Warren to use an elaborate set of sluice gates to take advantage of the tides within the bay.
Ecosystem
The deep waters of the outer bay once provided plentiful fish for the Damaraskans but lately the hauls have been less and less plentiful. Sea birds roost in the rocky bluffs and dive for fish or scour the beach at low tide for crabs, bivalves, and other delectables.
