Lasthome
The diverse free city known as Lasthome is located in the Blushing Hills on the eastern edge of the Boundless Steppes. It is a town with a distinct frontier feel, known as a place for fresh starts and new beginnings, where the ambitious and hard working can forge good lives and (possibly) make their fortune. Its location near the wilder southern lands make a frequent hub for adventurers and mercenaries.
Brick is a major export of Lasthome, and red brick buildings are quite common throughout the city. No place is this more evident than the Brickward, the merchant district of Lasthome.
Other districts in Lasthome include: Ironpoints, Lasthome Temple Square, and the Coppertop District.
The hills between Lasthome and Crimson Lake contain a number of mines, owned and operated by citizens of the city.
The western outskirts of the city contain a number of ranches with livestock that helps support and feed the Lasthome's growing population.
A number of orchards have been planted at the city's northern edge, the largest of them belonging to the Red Shores Clan.
Culture
Lasthome is a remote free city with a frontier-like quality. Although it is ethnically and culturally diverse, most of its citizens share a common desire to make their fortunes in Lasthome.
Assets
A number of mines can be found in the lands around Lasthome. To take full advantage of Lasthome's resources and protections, all claims must be registered with the City's claim bureau. Lasthome also rests upon a large, rich, aquifer that supplies its citizens with fresh water.
History
Lasthome has had permanent settlers within its bounds for over a millennia, but only recently has it started to experience any real growth, due largely to the discovery of precious ores and gems in the Blushing Hills. Before this discovery, its largest export was brick and the city was largely used as a trading post between humans and the various demi-human and humanoid races.
Demography and Population
15,000 mixed humanoid races in the city and surrounding lands. 30% Human, 20% Halfling, 15% Half Elf, 10% Dwarf, 5% Elf, 5% Tabaxi, 5% Centaur, 15% various mixed races.
Territories
Lasthome occupies the southern edge of the Blushing Hills. In addition, the Lasthome City Regulators and Lasthome Claim Bureau sends patrols and maintains peace in the lands between the city's walls and Crimson Lake.
Military
Lasthome has a city guard of roughy 300 individuals, known as the Lasthome City Regulators. They are responsible for keeping the peace within the city limits and dealing with any threats to the city from without. In addition, the Lasthome Claim Bureau has a small force of roughly 50 responsible for the safety and protection of mines throughout the Blushing Hills.
Religion
With its diverse population Lasthome has a number of churches within its walls.
Foreign Relations
Lasthome maintains solid relations with the Elven kingdoms, as well as the Gnomes of Dallunderfjell, the Halflings of Delvingshore, and the kingdom of Oryus (in particular the city of Durance). Lasthome also maintains contact with the free city Damarask and sends caravans every two months to exchange goods, services, and post.
Agriculture & Industry
A number of farms can be found to the south and east of the city, supplying the citizens with a number of different crops, grown in the recognizable red soil of the Blushing Hills. To the west, ranchers take advantage of the grasses of the Boundless Steppes to graze livestock for the community of Lashome.
Trade & Transport
Lasthome sees a number of caravans moving to and from Delvingshore, as well as up the Blushwine into Lhun Glad. Once every two months a caravan moves out of Lasthome bound for the free city of Damarask.
Infrastructure
Lasthome is protected by a 6' wall of brick and iron. Its main thoroughfare is paved with brick and many of its side streets with a reddish/pink gravel. Lasthome also boasts a number of wells, drilled deep into the aquifer below.
