Piigon

Also spelled "Pygon", this is the red moon of Malatoria. As it hangs in a geosynchronous orbit, it is only visible to those who reside on the continent of Grand Ymmarion. Its peculiar orbit causes it to shine brightest just before the dawn, in a "Waxing Crescent" and just after sunset in a "Waning Crescent". During the day it can be seen plainly provided the sky is not overcast.
Its orbital plane in relation to the axis of the planet cause it to pass by the Malatorian sun twice a year.  As Piigon is smaller in size than its sister moon Geon, these passes do not fully cover the sun and are technically "transits" as opposed to a full eclipse. These two transits occur in the Fall (October 21) and Spring (April 21). Most residents in Grand Ymmarion see some version of the transit although only those residing along the latitudinal line of Piigon's Meridian experience the deep red shadow that the transit creates. Every 2-5 years, Piigon and Geon's orbits cross in a transit known as a Lunar Convergence. This event does not include the sun.
Every 18-25 years Piigon and Geon's orbits converge to eclipse the sun in a Grand Celestial Convergence.  It goes without saying, but shit goes down.
