Fenroot

Fenroot is the root of a dead tree in a swamp heavily influenced by the presence of Unseelie Fey. Depending on how it is prepared, it can be either a very potent ingredient in healing, or one of the deadliest of poisons in Malgrave.

Harming

This blackened root will seep with a toxic purple liquid at a break or when cut. When used pure, this toxin, when introduced to the bloodstream, will shock the system and start causing necrosis starting at the wound and working through the rest of the body. It is strong enough to kill an elephant in minutes and is incredibly painful.   Diluting the poison and introducing other ingredients can change the effect. Simply watering it down can cause temporary paralysis similar to a neurotoxin. There are other ingredients that can turn it into a drugging agent, causing a victim to fall asleep or unconcious in an instant.

Healing

Fenroot can be distilled in several ways to completely change the properties of the root. Boiling the root while still containing the toxin can then be dried and ground to a powder to apply to woulds to neutralize poisons and stop necrosis. Properly extracted and treat, the toxin can be turned into a potion that acts as a painkiller and sleep aide, making recovery time much faster for those that are suffering. Consuming untreated roots in minute quantities can also build up resistances to all poisons. It is a dangerous practice, but often utilized by those that use poisons in their work.

Locations

Absorbing negative energies from Unseelie Fey, there are more locations in Malgrave than people would expect. These are alost always foud in swamps, with many of them being surrounded by thick forests. The most prominent locations are Svantyne, the Dreaming Grove, the Miasma Tropics and the Evergreen Glade.
