History and Appearance
Due to the normally dominating genes of orcs, when they have children it is almost always considered an orc or half-orc. With a tendency towards being larger and stronger than most races their size, most mixed children usually adopt these traits as they get older because it has a natural tendency to be shared in some way with both parents.
There is, however, the rare pairing of elves and orcs and even rarer still, a child that takes on more traits of their more delicate heritage. Typically ranging in height and weight similar to humans, these children bear the green skin and tusks of an orc, though theirs tend to be a little sharper, and the lithe build and pointed ears of an elf. All of them have pure white hair and eye colors range from normal orc and elvish colors with the added possibility of amber or yellow eyes. They reach physical maturity at the same rate as humans, and although few make it to the end of their full lifespan, it is estimated they could live as long as 200 years. These children are called Iunc'tura. The name is based on a mixture of orcish and elvish words both meaning 'to combine' or 'to cross'. The term was used by the orcs first, and with little else to call them, the elves accepted the term as well.
With how rare they are, Iunc'tura do not have an established culture of their own. High Elves, Sun Elves and Moon Elves despise them greatly, usually killing them in infancy when born into their family. Sea Elves, Shadar-Kai and Eldarin almost never have the opportunity to meet orcs and therefore have no opinion one way or another, though in the chances that they do, it is said that those born of a Sea Elf parent have blue skin, those of the Shadar-Kai would be a paler green and those with Eldarin parents would have skin that changed with the seasons. Of these, the Sea Elves and Eldarin are usually seen as so free spirited that they wouldn't mind the presence of a Iunc'tura and the apathetic Shadar-Kai couldn't be bothered to care one way or another. Drow interact with orcs more frequently and it is possible that they have seen more than their fair share of Iunc'tura amid their own. Even the females, despite the matriarchal society, are held in lower regard and should they be allowed to live and are not sacrificed to Lolth, they are treated more as property to display. Like the dark elves, they tend to have the same ebony skin as their Drow parent. Amongst the elves though, the Wild Elves and Wood Elves are the most frequent to have a Iunc'tura child. As the elves that believe all others have lost their way, they encourage free living and openness between races. They are treated as any other member of the community in these two cultures.
For the orcs, it is a different story. There are the ones within Malgrave who are still considered savages, who pillage and raid the lands. These orcs that are often tempted into the service of evil or enjoy destruction view Iunc'tura as small, weak and pathetic. Most are abandoned or fed to the beasts that they keep as pets.
The other half of the orcish communities, however, hold Iunc'tura almost in reverence. With strong ties to family and cooperation, to them such a child can only be born of a perfect union between an elf and an orc. As a symbol of a tie between two peoples that were once constantly at war, these more peaceful clans and tribes of orcs take pride whenever they welcome a Iunc'tura into the world.
