Muktuk

Muktuk is a giant walrus who lives in the arctic north and frequently visits Kassimavik.

Description

Appearance

Muktuk appears to be an average walrus in every way except for one major difference. Twenty feet long and several tons in weight, he is massive compared to any other known walrus. With tusks nearly five feet long, he is an imposing sight to behold. Contrary to this appearance, he seems to be a gentle creature. It is unknown how old Muktuk is, with some of the Duskmen believing he is a spirit beast watching over them while others believe he is just a walrus and when he passes away a new bull takes his place, giving the appearance of longevity. Regardless, he is considered very special and it is considered to be in poor taste to point out the latter theory.

Biography

Background

Muktuk started making appearances in Kassimavik in 14AT. Being a friendly creature that allowed children to pet and climb on him, the Duskmen let him stay in their settlement as long as he wished. He most frequently shows up when there is a celebration to be had. While the nature experts could say that it was probably because of the free food often fed to the walrus that made him learn the signs of when to return, they usually keep silent. Since his arrival coincides with these special events, it was taken as a good omen or as a blessing on the celebration. It's especially considered a sign of good fortune when Muktuk appears at weddings in particular and he rarely misses one.
