Sivak Arleith

Arleith is a silver dragonborn ranger of the Sivak Clan who appears in the Undesirables Campaign. He is played by I.W. He helped train Sivak Gol'rotta and served as a lieutenant under her command. His kresh name is "Spire", though few use it.

Description

Appearance

Arleith is a dragonborn of average height with a very lean, athletic build. His skin tone under his silver scales is a very deep purple, making him blend in with the misty nights surrounding the Argentum Bastion. Several of his attributes make him stand out in social circles, starting with the long, flexible scales growing from his head that some dragonborn have. Often referred to as dreadlocks by races with hair, his are longer than most dragonborn's, reaching his mid-back. Arleith also has unusual an eye color, being that of pure silver irises. What really stands out the most is his unusual amount of spikes and spines growing from his body. With spurs at each of his limb joints, such as his wrists, elbows and ankles, he also has spiny growths down his back and forearms. As he got older, he also had them start growing across the ridge of his brow, along with his lower jawlined and under his chin. Whatever the cause, it is suspected to be the reason his dreadlocks and his horns are longer than most others as well. It is because of this that he was given the kresh name 'Spire' when he was growing up, indicating that this has been a major feature of his since his childhood. By the standards of the dragonborn, Arleith is considered very attractive for these traits.
Because of his unusual spikes, Arleith has a hard time wearing conventional clothing and armor. While the chest piece of his leather armor is solid, the back is made of straps and belts to weave around his natural adornments. One of his most notable pieces that he wears is a set of bracers, which he wears in a way that lets the spines on his forearms to sit between the laces when tightened. He wears a harness and two bandoliers, each with a large array of knives. The knife at the center of his chest, with the hilt over his heart, is a cinquedea that doesn't match the rest of his knives and daggers as it is not easily thrown. Across his back is a carrying case for javelins and at his waist is another belt harness for him to put a tomahawk on each hip. His army and officer insignia are attached to his right shoulder guard.

Personality

Arleith is a very calm and collected person, often considered stoic by those that don't know him as well. He is often shown to be a very considerate individual, thinking many things through rather than asking unnecessary questions. As a very thoughtful person, this translates well into his work and personal relationships as well as his tactical analysis. He has a dry wit and banter that goes over quiet well in the Sivak community, but tends to be a bit reserved when it comes to forming closer bonds with others. With his intelligence and natural charisma within the Argentum Bastion, it surprises many that he doesn't have much interest in finding a romantic partner or even engage in flirty banter with the many dragonborn women that make their attraction known. It is often like he doesn't even notice such advances, which makes his interractions with his captain, Gol'rotta, draw more attention.
Arleith is considered both creative and cunning on the battlefield, but also tends to fight with a cold efficiency when the threat is great enough. While he doesn't have much of a temper and is difficult to make angry, he seems to have a strong hatred for injustice. He tends to have a soft spot for those that struggle to fit in, in their militaristic society. This paired with his intolerance for injustice gives him a very protective air about him. As much as his care for the outcasts makes his social status lowered by the normal standards of the clan, it seems that personal pride has never mattered much to him. This is most evident as it was his choice, rather than assignment, that had him join the ranger corps.

Biography

Background

Arleith was born the son of Sivak Lethe and Sivak Arlas in the Argentum Bastion. After his time in the Kresh was completed, he was taken home by his mother. While he wasn't strictly kept away from his father, his parents had separated shortly after his egg had been laid and his mother was particularily possessive of him. His mother had been traumatized by some events unknown to the clan in the Feywild and so he did his best to do whatever he could to keep her happy. A very loving relationship between them grew and Arleith could see that she was more lucid and herself around him than anyone else. This progress would begin to slip away when he started training at the military academy. Eventually, his mother would become ill with their separation, passing away only two years into his training. Somewhat estranged from his father, Arleith would choose to stay in the barracks rather than live with him.
During his training, Arleith would excel at combat and showed expert survival skills taught by his mother, giving him free choice of assignment when being assigned to a unit. He chose to become a part of the ranger corps in honor of his mother, surprising everyone as it was often looked down upon. Despite this, his capabilities were highly recognized by the others in his unit, enough so that he was one of the recruits selected to train cadets in fairy forest survival. He was assigned to Sivak Gol'rotta, a young prodigy the whole clan had their eyes on. Instead of giving her praise like everyone else, he chose to push her hard and test her limits. Surprised that this treatment was embraced and appreciated, the two gained a mutual respect for each other from that point forward.
Being promoted to Ranger Lieutenant, Arleith was reassigned as a senior advisor to the newest captain, that being Gol'rotta. The two would make a great match, along with another newly promoted lieutenant, Sivak Toy'wl. Between their skills and leadership, the three of them maintained a record of never losing a single soldier in battle. With Gol'rotta's popularity and this impressive win streak, the 8th Battallion would affectionately become known as the Frostfangs.

The Undesirables

Arleith is a major ally to Sivak Gol'rotta and can be depended on for assistance in the Argentum Bastion to any she calls her friend. He is also strongly opposed to the way Praetor Kal'bortaash runs things and while he doesn't openly speak of his disdain, it is also no secret within the Sivak Clan.

Relationships

Gol'rotta

Gol'rotta and Arleith had somewhat of a strange introduction with each other. When assigned to instruct Gol'rotta in fey survival, Arleith had anticipated a spoiled child used to getting her way and chose to go hard on her with the training. He had not anticipated her to appreciate such treatment, or for her to thrive under those conditions. A mutual respect grew between them and eventually blossomed into feelings for each other. These feelings were immediately silenced by Gol'rotta in an effort to protect Arleith from Kal'bortaash's ire and then later due to them being assigned to the same unit. Arleith maintains a somewhat flirty banter with her in such a way that those outside the Frostfangs might think it was just his humor, but their unit knows otherwise since he doesn't do so with anyone else.

Pip

Pip has mixed feelings about Arleith, mostly because of her jealousy over his relationship with Gol'rotta. Arleith has always respected Pip and is one of the few that has never pressed her on the events of her childhood that caused her to become Feytouched. He keeps an eye on her both because she is one of Gol'rotta's only two living relatives and because her situation within the clan reminds him of how his mother was treated when he was young.
