Savelan Northlands
The farmlands of Arsavela, in which families fight for control of the industry
We work hard to keep what we have here, friend. There is always more work to be done, always something more to be doing. No idle hands on the Harvest Belt, I'll always say. You know, I think Atreimus does quite literally say to not have idle hands. Just some food for thought there, for you. Food is what we're good at, so you know I'm only giving you the best of the best. The Savelan Northlands make up the bulk of the Kingdom of Arsavela's agricultural lands, agriculture being its primary industry and a major contributor to the nature of its culture as a whole.
Family In Charge
These lands are governed by Arsavela's most influential families who are known to bicker amongst each other frequently, especially when favoritism from Aurel is on the line. Intense rivalries have formed between families whose farms rest on the Harvest Belt, which is simply a name given to a large swathe of land occupied almost entirely by rotating fields of crops and industrial agricultural production. Any attempt from other families to move into the Harvest Belt is heavily resisted by the families which already exist within them, making the market incredibly difficult to enter as a competing farmer, or simply deeply unfriendly if searching for somewhere to make a residence.Making Peace
Traditions along the Harvest belt of the Savelan Northlands are surprisingly wholesome, despite the known reputation for cutthroat family rivalries. As much as these families compete with each other and will do whatever they can to secure an edge over others in the industry, there is a mutual understanding that people must care for one another when it all boils down. Familial celebrations such as major milestones, birthdays, even great successes in the business that other families will not benefit from are celebrated together. It is not uncommon to see family heads, who were at each other's throats not long prior, exchanging gifts and kind words of support to one another. It may give outsiders whiplash to witness such interactions, and may reek of being an elaborate display of falsified sentiments to save face, or any other manipulative descriptor, but these are far simpler people than that. They are passionate in all they do and will express exactly what they feel to one another.
Farmers residing along the southern stretches of the Northlands and Harvest Belt have expressed great concerns over the apparent encroaching of the Melocazh Barrens to the south. Complaints of sand blowing up more frequently than usual, more dry spells from the well, among other concerns which, unfortunately, are simply not being heard by anyone who would be able to investigate or do anything about it.Lands in which farmers are king, and familial disputes make up the bulk of local politics

Limited Space
Due to its proximity to the Melocazh Barrens, southward expansion is out of the question for the Harvest Belt, and northward expansion is difficult due to disagreeable terrain. Concerns have been voiced that the families of the Belt may not be able to sustainably turn over the land in cycles forever, which has generated a growing desire for expansion options which won't bring financial ruin to any one individual or family.Want Secrets?
