Index: Locations of Historical Study

Whether a library, museum, sage, or other historical specialist, the ancient past is often of value for an adventurer. Listed below is a selection of prominent locations that explorers may go to to research ancient threats, artifacts, adventuring locations, or other such topics. Of note, most references to "libraries" take the forms of reference libraries. Few places that collect knowledge let the tomes or scrolls leave their walls due to the time it takes to produce such a work even if it is just a copy.

Hall of Memory

Location: New Derth
Focus: The Hall of Memory serves as combination library and museum. It is the largest library and museum in the Storm Broken Lands despite being within one of the youngest cities of the continent. They have gathered their contents through trade, reproduction, outsourced gathering (think British Museum), and the donations of the populations that have flocked to the city through the centuries of its growth in exchange for aid in establishing themselves in the city. The Hall of Memory's public displays are easily viewed by anyone who enters their halls. A large library is also available the citizens of the city. It is possible to apply for a library card to allow for the rental of materials from the public sections. From there, the Hall has a secondary, larger reference library full of materials that must stay within the hall but allow for deeper dives into studies. A host of librarians are available to help with this research. A third restricted library is available to those who apply for special access to specific materials.

Ūrjā Archive (pronounced Ooer-sha)

  Location: Basin's Edge Mountains
Focus: This ancient library contains the oldests texts on the continent. The archive focuses its studies on the ancient world and it's progression into the modern day as well as metaphysics and philosophy. The monks of the archive practice a mystic martial arts form based on the pushing and pulling of life energy. The practice is maintained for self perfection as well as the protection of the Ūrjā Archive. Admittance into the library is only allowed based on established relationships or through providing unique information to the Archive. The information in the Archive is censored on a person-by-person basis. The older and more esoteric the knowledge, the greater the relationship or donations must be.

Vault Antiçağ (pronounced An-ti-chahg)

Location: Draman
Focus: This small place of study focuses on the history of the Zin Zareth and its occupants. The facility houses texts, documents, and artifacts pertaining to the surrounding region. The facility is owned by Maha Safiya Fillerin. The contents of the library are either purchased from collectors or are gathered first hand by funded expeditions into the desert. The information in the vault is curated by one of the Maha's court with a small selection of publicly viewable documents rotated through on a weekly basis. Only a fraction of the materials are made available to the public though deeper information can be conveyed through the curator.
