The Orods

The Orods are a relatively newer mountain range that splits the Ulgoine Valley from the fertile, volcanic soils to the west. During the Age of Heroism, the Orods were home to a few groups of people. The primary political entity calling it home was the Lothin Diarchy in the south. Further north, prestigious communities of aarakocra created mountainside city states dedicated to invention, science, and innovation. Neither community made it through the Age of Isolation.   The Lothin Diarchy fell after the Fields of Ichor (973 AH) and the aarakocra were eliminated by a plague within the valley known as Lung Rot.   The Orods southern end is separated by the northern end by the Runol Pass, a trade route cut straight through the mountains by the gnomes of the Lothin Diarchy.  During the Age of Heroism, the pass was spanned by great bridges and walkways for the gnomes over top allowing the grounds below to be used freely by traders.  By the Age of Community, the Runol pass had crumbled into such disrepair to be not much more than an overhyped gorge filled with collapsed heaps.
