Ulgos Jungle

The Ulgos Jungle is what gives the Ulgoine Valley its name.  The jungle is fed by the waters that flow down the valley's slope as well as from the mountains the box it in.  The jungle is home to giant insects, carnivorous plants, and more than one crevice that eventually winds its way into the underdark.  The combination of the wild life of the Ulgos Jungle and the darker nature of the the underdark is one preposed theory for the initial infection that led to the disease known as Lung Rot

The Ulgos Jungle is an ancient place where greater evils have always hid.  Even in the Age of Heroism, there were lost temples unknown to the outside world.  One of the more prominent temples whose presence still effects the jungle into the Age of Community is the temple to Hythonia.  Praised by the minotaurs of the jungle, the mythic gorgon is the reason why the term applies to both the serpentine monstrous women and the armor plated bovine creatures.  In praise to Hythonia, the minotaur cult was slowly contorted into the metalic beasts whose very breath carries with it the same petrification that their highness could conduct with her gaze.  Despite Hythonia supposedly being slain in the Age of Heroism, the bovine gorgons still call the Ulgos Jungle home.
