Bharmatta
In the culture of the Empire of Ulstrom, many of the wealthy aristocratic vampires adopts an old Vharian tradition, known as the Bharmatta. For vampire of Malyk, in order to reproduce, they must use dark galvanic magic, in order to temporarily revive the womb of the mother for the process, which occurs over the period of one month, from conception to birth.
The tradition of the Bharmatta is to celebrate the new vampire child's first birthday, as he is born. It is typically celebrated over the course of three days, each with a different theme.
Day of New Life
During the first day, when the child is born, it is traditionally celebrated only with the immediate household. The way this tradition is celebrated varies greatly between household, however the most common way is for the family to visit and introduce themselves to the new child, who is held by the mother.Day of Unveiling
The second day of the child's birth is when friends and extended family are invited. It is here that the mother reveals the child's name and gender. This day is often celebrated by a feast, that takes place immediately after the unveiling.Day of First Thirst
On the third and final day of the Bharmatta, the infant child is given their first drink of blood. This can vary based on the morals and positions of the family, but in the more evil societies, such as House Starblight, it involves the unwilling sacrifice of a servant, whose blood feeds both the child and those participating, sharing in the blood of the same sacrifice. Some of the more moral or less wealth, not being able to afford a sacrifice, will instead have a blood sample ready to feed the child.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
