Protean Regeneration salve

"This is probably gonna hurt a whole lot as your whole body structure will reform. But hey, beggars can't be choosers"

Utility

The salve is applied on a creature which body structure changed , usually through petrification or a partial severed limb. At first, the salve release the skullback's anesthetic effect which is usually enough to put any regular humanoid in sleep for a certain amount of hours, then the retardant agent (snapping turtle phlegm is usually a good material to use) start to wither which activates the protean fly's saliva which start to reproduce the limb's original shape.   At first, the saliva was used alone which cause deadly nerve pain, caused by the reconnection of nerves and body tissues that were damaged, to users as it was tested on small animals, and the retardant was thus implemented in the formula.

Access & Availability
The mixture is quite hard to obtain as protean fly are rare and usually located in remote places in low quantity. One of the main components, the skullback hornet venom, is also extremely dangerous to gather in the wild and some countries regulate it's use, as while it is used as a byproduct for anesthesia, it is also used as a potent poison. This makes his cost rather high and unable to buy for the average citizen.
Complexity
The salve is made out of three ingredient:
  • Protean Fly saliva, which is the main actor, as it's fey properties can replicate and restore muscular tissues, skin and bones that were either removed, torn or modified in their integrity like petrification.
  • A retardant substance, that will merge with the saliva's structure, to make it activate after the rest of the substance. Snapping turtle phlegm was deemed a good component for that.
  • Skullback hornet's venom: A strong anesthetic substance that can put a nervous system impaired from pain for hours, which also causes sleep. the concentration must be made specifically for the user as it can create respiratory failure if too potent.
The salve must be kept in a air-tight container to prevent the retardant substance to wither away. The mixture result in a thick syrup which become homogenous for a short while when mixed up. The syrup is then applied on damaged tissues directly.
Discovery
The use of the salve was discovered by Ingrid Goldfoot while doing several investigations in a Fey rift  southeast of the forest of Mycenon, while doing biology research on the fey-touched fauna. Her sharing of the effect of the Protean Fly (also named Recomposeurs ) with fellow scholar Isil Holiilo combined their effort to discover the mixture during alchemical tests. Both were quite curious of the effect of the protean fly's saliva which seemed to have altered the usual decomposer role of a fly, as it was now able to reproduce and partially or fully restore tissues, making carrion nearby usable to consume regularly without any ill effect.

Good detail on the ingredients and history. It's neat to see the stages of development, the process of figuring out how to make something work. Having most of the information in the sidebars makes the article look strongly off-balance, though. You might consider creating subsections to move some of the details from the sidebar into the main body of the article. For example, when was the respiratory failure problem discovered? How did they find out that snapping turtle phlegm worked so well? That information could go with the piece about nerve damage, along with the discoverers' specific observations about the saliva's effects, into a subsection on development of the salve. (After prizes are awarded, obviously!) I am also amused by the idea of a "recomposer". Those flies like their meat fresh!

thanks for the comment ! and yeah, it seems the default formating option made it really unbalanced. it's something i sadly havent prepared in anticipation of because of time, but ill see what i can do to correct that and develop on what you mentionned once the ceremony gets in. and yeah ! I plan to develop on those flies this year, as i like 'fey' influence and think i can make something nice of it on this settings.   Happy Summercamp !

Ooh, yeah, it can be really hard to tell on some of these templates. And not being able to do anything about it until September--it's almost torture! XD
