Summary

The soulgazer is an eldritch entity given deific influence through an originally fake fear campaign orchestrated by (religion) which was then used by Anahtar as an anima influence to create for it's own influence spreading.
To this day, the soulgazer does not interfere directly on Arcamunda, but influences it's followers and those cursed by it's knowledge through oniric means, collecting Anima for a purpose that nobody really can discern yet. Even Anahtar absolute control over the entity is uncertain.

Historical Basis

The origin started after the collapse (event), after the Sunspark Automative Construction were removed from the common use by the purge that happened.
Desiring to discourage any attempt to emulate or reproduce a similar study that Vyceric produced, the (philosophy) went into creating a false entity: the soulgazer. Portrayed as an eldritch entity they tried to make people believe was an impending doom to humanity, it reinforced their dogma to not research into science-based and put their faith in the pantheon to protect them for corruption.
However, the entity Anahtar noticed this dogma spreading out, and found that a noticeable amount of anima was related to it. He thus went to gather this energy, and used to create an eldritch embryo. Ironically, this egg from outer planes was a creation of those that tried to use the lie of it's existence as a weapon, that was soon going to turn on them.
Being however inactive and of new flesh, the soulgazer started to spread manifests, and the church of (deity) started to spread hidden hazard information. Once the knowledge of the soulgazer was common, it was time to turn the tables. With the use of plane-whispers, the forbidden church started to ingrain on people visions of the soulgazer, but also sending the suggestion: that the philosophy itself created it, and that the return will be imminent by their fault. Only by working on it's return would it's benefactor blessed when retribution will happen.
This started to sow doubt on people's mind: they had 'seen' some kind of proof the being existed, and the possibility of it having a hold on them was not impossible. also, some were feared by being gazed by the entity would been found by the philosophy, and thus being judged. an escape was trusting this entity, and working against the religion.

Spread

The myth of the soulgazer is mostly centered around the country of altalyf. Cultists and followers of the entity tried to implement themselves in other countries, but remains quite discreet in their methods to reduce any chances of retalation from the rival church, prefering a long and discreet assimilation.

Cultural Reception

Most concrete information about the entity or the cult is deemed heretical, burned on sight and kept under taboo. But of course, some skeptics always try to uncover why does the church is so adamant when such measures have publicly held.

In Art

Some affected by the soulgazer's oniric influence sometimes tried to manifest a more visual representation of the thing, but it's interpretation remained really vague and hard to describe , and most discovered art by the church was destroyed whenever possible. Most artists who tried to publicly interpret those mad paintings were either judged or went insane over time.
