"Calliope" Micro-Gravity Maneuver Pack

The "Calliope" Micro-Gravity Maneuver Pack is an exhaust modification for dieseltech auto-armor. It allows a unit with the mod equipped to maneuver in micro-gravity environments, such as the middlemost regions of commissures or inflection layers, without recourse to external harnesses or grapnel cables.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The Calliope integrates into a suit of auto-armor with an auxiliary wiring harness, which connects the maneuver pack's valve assembly to a control glove that replaces the suit's standard glove. The pack itself is comprised of the valve assembly (which sits directly atop the auto-armor's engine exhaust port), a series of elongated pipes with branches pointing in each cardinal direction, and several fuel injectors which tap into the auto-armor's reserves.
When the user presses the patches within the control glove, the pack's valve assembly directs the hot exhaust stream of the auto-armor's dieseltech engine in the specified direction by switching which pipe the exhaust emerges from. Special exhaust nozzles turn the stream of gas into a small, but steady, thrust in the desired direction of travel. If the user touches the afterburner patch, the fuel injectors burp fuel into the exhaust stream, which immediately combusts and produces a stronger thrust pulse. A thrust neutralizer, in the form of a pan-shaped exhaust tip, helps prevent any movement when no patches are touched.
