Pact of the Trickster

Your patron is a trickster spirit of legends, Loki. Your pact with this patron might be a loose agreement to common ends or a labyrinthine deal with circuitous wording and hidden clauses that hides many exploits and loopholes in your agreement. Varðlokkur of this fickle patron may find themselves with less freedom than they had hoped to gain from the initial pact.

Expanded Spell List

The Trickster lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a Varðlokkur spell. The following spells are added to the Varðlokkur spell list for you.

Trickster Expanded Spells

Spell Level Spells

1st Grease, Silent Image
2nd Magic Mouth, Magic Aura
3rd Blink, Feign Death
4th Greater Invisibility, Banishment
5th Mislead, Modify Memory

Hidden Step

At 1st level, your patron grants you the ability to hide in plain sight. As a bonus action, you become invisible until the end of your next turn. You become visible if you attack or cast a spell.   Once you use this ability you cannot do so again until you complete a short or long rest, or until you cast a spell using a Varðlokkur spell slot.

Deceptive Dodge

Starting at 6th level, you can invoke your patron's power to avoid danger or capture. As a reaction when you are targeted by an attack or are forced make an ability check or saving throw to avoid becoming grappled, you can add your Charisma modifier to your AC and any checks or saves made to avoid becoming grappled until the end of the current turn.   If any attack misses you or you succeed on an ability check or saving throw to avoid becoming grappled before the current turn ends, you can immediately move up to 5 feet without provoking attacks of opportunity. If you succeed on multiple checks, saves, or multiple attacks miss you before the end of the turn, you can move 5 feet without provoking opportunity attacks each time.   Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Uncatchable

Beginning at 10th level, you gain the elusiveness of your patron. You can cast Freedom of Movement once as a Varðlokkur spell without expending a spell slot.   You regain the ability to do so at the end of a short or long rest.

Trickster’s Snag

Starting at 14th level, you can steal a creature’s valued possessions with your patron’s power. As an action, you can attempt to magically steal something from a creature you can see. The creature must make a Charisma saving throw against your Varðlokkur spell save DC. On a failure you can instantly teleport one object the creature is holding, wearing, or carrying to your space, or your open hand if you can hold it. For the purposes of this ability, a container and all objects within it count as one item, as well as anything that is part of a set, such as armor, shoes, or gloves. If the object teleported is a magic item that requires attunement, you can immediately attune to the item as part of this ability.   Alternatively, if the creature has the ability to cast spells of 1st level or higher using spell slots, you can force the creature to lose the highest level spell slot it has of 5th level or lower and regain one of your expended Warlock spell slots.   Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
