Agata Aminti

Her whole life, everyone has always said Agata Paga nee Aminti was a witch. Those people were right. In the all but magically abandoned fae kingdom, this is a very dangerous position to take up, but magic was passed down to her from her mother, and from her grandmother before her. It all but sings in her blood, no more dangerous than the rushing tide, not that many other people see it that ways.   Agata was born in the Rose City, and lived there apprenticing in magic under her mother, until she was 16 years old, and their bookshop was burnt down. Her parents and sisters died in the fire, Agata only being saved by a voice on the wind telling her she absolutely needed to visit the town’s most crowded marketplace for more tea. She let the town think she was dead, stealing off of a trade ship in the middle of the night. She traveled across the Western Lands for two years, finding a place as a cook for a desert trading caravan, before making her way to Ver Coasta, where she met her husband Argus. There natures matched right away, he was absent-minded and passive, and Agata was definitely one to take charge. They married quickly, in part to hide Agata from members on her traveling party that were starting to get suspicious of her.   But things were not all roses for the newlyweds. The fifty-year age gap between them caused lots of scandals with his family, that Argus seemed completely ignorant of, but were getting harder and harder by the day for Agata to ignore. There was also trouble at with Argus finding a new job after his apprenticeship was over, and rumors that had followed her to the city of her being a witch, not making this situation any better. Agata finally decided to take charge.   She moved them upstream to Gardinya Lyra, a town far enough away from the capitol, that even if there were rumors of her magic and his strangeness, that these would hardly be counted as something real worth noting. Agata talked her husband into opening up his own shipbuilding shop, right at the docks, a perfectly convenient place, right over a hidden underground alley where she could also set up business for herself.   To those who don’t know, they would just see Agata in the backroom of the Golden Shipwright, fixing sails and making tea for the shop hands. But for those in the know, those that Agata found with magic, all congregating in the city at her request, with the right words, a whole new world would be unveiled before you.   Agata, in her day, was the most beautiful woman in almost every room she was in, with long raven hair, usually curled and plated in some exotic style, and deep-sea blue eyes, that were sharp and could see right through to the soul of the person she was looking at. She was on the short side for a fae, and curved where most were willowy, but had an almost regal posture and tilt to her head so that one could not help but stare and admire any time she was around. She was shrewd, demanding, and refused to admit when she was wrong, but charismatic enough for no one else to want to admit when she was wrong either. A natural-born leader, she was the perfect person to set up a secret magic underground in Gardinya Lyra.   Now, with old age, firmly set down around her, her hair has silvered, her eyes have gone soft, and her face was heavily lined, but don’t let the looks dissuade you, she is still as sharp and exacting as ever.
