Skerritburg

Skerritburg is a small medieval town that clings to the edge of a lake and the side of a hill. The town is defended by a wooden palisade and a ditch and has a single gate that opens to a narrow bridge across the lake. The town consists of about a hundred houses, mostly made of timber and thatch, huddled around a central square. The square has a well, a market, and a stone church with a bell tower. The town’s inhabitants are mostly fishermen, farmers, craftsmen, and traders, who live a humble and tranquil life.

The most striking feature of Skerritburg is the sight of Wardford Keep, an ancient castle that crowns the hill above the town. The castle was once the seat of the lords of Wardford, a powerful noble family that ruled the region for centuries. However, the castle was abandoned and left to decay after a bloody civil war that ended the Wardford bloodline's domain over the region. The castle is now a abandoned, dreaded by the townsfolk and rumoured to be infested by ghosts, goblins, and worse. Recently, Captain Wulf of the Breland military arrived in town with a small team of soldiers to assess the castle for undisclosed reasons.
