Maefar Conservation Core

The Maefar are a group of sentient and nonsentient machines that have made it their goal in life to protect all life from itself. Once, they were two different parties of war machines, but now they are one united force that subdued their former makers and have put them, and every other living creature they've come across, into a complex and ever-growing menagerie.

Gunmen Rand (SSN)- Listen you big tin can! I'm an intelligent creature! My people are intelligent creatures! We don't need nanny bots managing our affairs! Give me one good reason we or ANY sentient lifeform should submit to your "Care"?

Structure

Standing at the head of their machine hierarchy are the Generals, holdover designs of machines from that old war that almost wiped out the makers of both alien species that provided the initial machine designs. Generals don't seem to share many traits with one another but have their armies strongly resemble themselves. The Maefar also have brain machines that produce the newest models of soldiers, workers, and survey craft as well as assembling new habitats for their new charges.

Public Agenda

The Maefar are quite frank in their goals, organics cannot be trusted with their own welfare and must thus, be governed by infallible machines with their best interests at their hearts circuits. They generally only expand for two reasons: 1) they need a niche habitat for one of their new charges and current facilities are insufficient (IE- they require a different atmosphere, or need more/less water 2) they need to gain more materials to service an existing menagerie.

History

Long ago, during the Life Swell, two young races were rescued from a near-extinction event. This event was apparently the machinations of these two races set loose on the other. These were complex and intelligent machines that waged war while these races began to live in decadence. When they found themselves nearly wiped out, the Architect stepped in and saved samples of both species, putting them in the same cluster but not nearly as close as they were before.
All seemed to be going well till the ancient enemies bumped into each other again and reproduced their old machines of war. Something was different this time about their tools, within a few battles the two opposing machine armies stopped fighting themselves and doubled back on their creators. Having few other weapons of war themselves, they were quickly subdued by their war machines.

Foreign Relations

It is odd that they do not grab every organic they can possibly get their hands on, but it does happen. Many star systems, star blocs, or even planetary governments have working deals with the Maefar, offering them prisoners who must serve a life sentence by local laws, generally peoples who do this have an aversion to the capital punishment or hard labor.
