Mass Satalite Network (MSN)
The ability to convey ideas, instructions, or warnings is part of what makes the sentient status of many creatures such an advanced and effective survival strategy. Communication is as vital in a pan-species galactic setting as it is difficult. Some creatures communicate audibly, some communicate with gestures, some by smell. Luckily, communications technology has not slacked with the rediscovery of star travel.
Scattered amongst the stars of most civilized space is a series of satellites that act as relay stations for information. This is not so simple as a conventional landline that makes up the local information networks of most planets, in no small part because of the vast distances.
