Kreshian State
The Kreshian State is the totalitarian, clan-based imperial society of the K'thaxi race and is their only governmental representation in the galaxy. It is comprised of Skralls (clans) loyal to the Emperor of Thax, both head of state and head of government. The current Emperor of Thax is Marrlun Kur'talax III, third of his name.
The K'thaxi are a superstitious people, but this has lessened in recent years. Nevertheless, the Temple of the Weaver still holds a significant amount of sway in politics, society, and technological development for the State.

Structure
The Kreshian State is a nation made up of a patchwork of family-centric clans known as Skralls, which are a collection of families and tribes loosely aligned under the iron fist of a Vhakk (High Patron/Matron), typically unified through bloody conquest. Each conquered tribal remnant or contingent is represented culturally by a Zan'kiv (Baron) who reigns over what is called a cohort and reports to the Vhakk. Beneath the Zan'kiv are their lieutenants known as the Tarsus who operate in ruthless squads called Claws - which both guard the respective Baron and enforce authority in their absence. This is a vicious and brutal meritocracy, the Barons and their subsequent pecking orders culling their own population and competition through bloody infighting to remain a Vhakk's favored cohort. This serves a dual function and typically eliminates any contender from becoming powerful enough to challenge a Vhakk's authority. Many Skralls comprise the Kreshian State - the largest being the Emperor's own, which is commonly referred to as the 'Skrall of Skralls.' Much like the policies of a cohort, the various Skralls and their Vhakks compete with one another underhandedly and occasionally through force - assuring Kur'talax's Skrall is uncontested in its dominion.
