Floating Palace
"The floating palaces are the epitome of excess; these people are so obsessed with pleasure that they've forced sailing into a leisure activity. It's a disgrace is what it is."Floating Palace is an umbrella term used to describe large ships that are designed primarily as secondary mobile dwellings for their wealthy owners. These ships are often equipped with modern amenities and are often constructed more for beauty than functionality, which leaves few of them capable of ocean-faring. Nonetheless, some of the most wealthy and vain of floating palace owners insist on making their mobile mansions capable of making ocean crossings, particularly if they have multiple homes across the ocean from one another. While owning a floating palace is a mark of extreme wealth, everyday Demians often view those who own one or work on one as being soft and haughty as sailing is seen as a rough and trying experience; something to link them to their hardy Domi ancestors.
Propulsion
Floating Palaces are powered by the wind via sails. Very few have oars as they are considered unsightly and providing lodging for oarsmen would take away from the owner's own living space more so than the space for the requisite crew already does.
Weapons & Armament
Very few Palaces have weapons of their own as they are often escorted by dedicated war ships and having weapons on deck would detract from the beauty of the vessel.
