Ngārara, Messenger of Death

Ngārara is not just a name, but a title. One passed down for countless generations of sphenodon. The Ngārara is the chosen messenger of Fuca. Across various cultures, both ancient and new, the Ngārara is often called the messenger of death. A title bestowed upon them for the seeming tragedies that befall their appearance. 233 years ago, a Ngārara was rumored to have been seen standing on a hill overlooking Emphero while the Triops nearly eliminated the Lepidurus. Before that, one was spotted near the docks the Marabunta departed from before its unfortunate fate.   The Ngārara was specially picked by Fuca to be her eyes and ears, able to communicate with the deity across vast distances using their third eye. Although they refuse to intervene in situations, they stealthily report back to Fuca on the state of the world. Their secret mission however, would be activated upon the discovery of one of Fuca’s keys. When any of the keys were discovered, the current Ngārara would rush around the globe, awakening and warning the others to defend Fuca from those unworthy of finding it. In modern times, this duty was entrusted upon the living Ngārara, Spheno.   Although he is currently 64 years old, he will continue to age well into his 130s. During the first 20 years of his life, he grew up in a hidden Tuatara village residing in New Zealand. A village that spans across 240 million years. Surprisingly, over that massive amount of time, they have been entirely cut off from the rest of the world. The Tuatara are a race so ancient they are physically and genetically different from their ancestors. The first inhabitants of the hidden village called themselves the Wirtembergia. Over the eons they have gone by multitudes of other names: the Diphydons, Clevos, and Opisthia to name a handful.
