The Nameless Colossus

Born over 800 million years ago, this ancient giant's name has been lost to the sands of time and insanity. After his creation, Fuca themselves asked the colossus to be the first key guardian. Entrusting with him the first of 5 keys, the colossus vowed, with the gravity of nobility, to never falter in his defense. He searched far and wide for a perfect defensive position, and landed on an semi-aquatic mountain in the middle of the vast Atlantic Ocean.   The mountain keep's entrance was made under the water, deep enough to overlook the seafloor while being close enough to the surface that it stays well lit during the day. Over hundreds of years, the monsterous sponge began to construct the most efficient defenses and weaponry to assure no one could steal her key. He fabricated a massive wall made of coquina to surround his keep. Adorned on each wall, he crafted clam-topped ballista that would shoot their pearly darts at intruders who dare venture to close.   If any were to make it past these safeguards, they would meet a massive gate, a humongous brachiopod that shuts itself for all except the colossus himself. Those who were strong enough to force it open would be met with a deadly, claustrophobic garden, where one wrong step would lead to a lethal contact with the sessile anemone what inhabited it. Beyond the garden, a doorway leads to the dry interior of the mountain. There, a room where the walls are constructed of barnacles lay adjacent to a squarely patterned floor. The tiles are displayed in a uniformly blocky pattern, where stepping on the wrong one would cause the unfortunate trespasser to fall into a pit of sea urchins below. However, luck is the only ally of those that enter the room, as the moment they do the barnacle encrusted walls slowly begin to move in. For those that wish to take the meticulous approach, the walls will end up crushing them.   The last defense the colossus constructed was both his simplest and most torturous: a small room with 5 different entrances, all leading to a maze made of pitch black obsidian. Because of the lack of light he placed in its confines, the was is darker than dark. Even with a torch, navigating the maze is nearly impossible, as only one doorway at the beginning leads to the maze's exit. Following the short hallway at the end of the maze, the trespasser would be greeted with one last rampart, and the final defense of the mountain keep: The aegis and mastermind of the keep itself.   Over his several hundred million year defense of Fuca's key, the colossus never once left the environs of its bastion. And slowly but surely, the colossus began to lose his mind due to the lack of contact with any other life. He began mumbling to himself and would stopped sleeping, aiding in his descent to insanity. He started becoming increasingly agitated and aggresive, hitting himself or trashing his isolated room. Over time, the colossus ended up forgetting his own name and who he was, entirely forgetting his purpose in life. All he knew was the key, and all he wished for in life was to defend it. He began speaking to the key itself, believing it to be his only friend which caused him to grow paranoid, anxious, and constantly afraid of someone waiting around the corner to steal his only companion.
