Session 25: Victory or Death Report
General Summary
Thirty Sahuagin come up from behind! Luckily, Uk-thin had the foresight to put grease in the way. Sea devils fall to Grease and Spirit Guardians, while Uk-thin uppercuts one. Virion then changes it up by casting Lightning Bolt, and fells several more of them (this does give Uk-thin a Horrible Scar). Bubbles then shoots one through, impaling the next guy. Mystan steps forwards, and his spirit guardians slay everyone, as his Spiritual Weapon ends after a final attack.
They push in further, and come to the hall. Ten Sea Devils (4 Coral Smashers, 6 Champions) await, and they're smart. Uk-thin puches a Coral Smasher, and Virion casts Fireball, while Bubbles uses their Javelin of Lightning to hit two Coral Smashers (killing one) and a Champion. A Coral Smasher then goes up to Uk-thin and hits them, but gets repulsed away. The enemies move up, and they all miss Uk-thin. Mystan then moves up, killing a coral smasher with their Spirit Guardians. He then uses Spiritual Weapon and Toll the Dead to kill a champion.
Uk-thin then punches a champion and uses Boots of Winding Path to retreat. This is followed by Virion casting Lightning Bolt and seriously hurting more Champions. Bubbled then shoots a Coral Smasher, and then hits him again (note they missed twice during this).
The Champions move in to throw spears, most miss but a few do hit. They also get one spear into Virion. Following this, Mystan moves up and his guardians hits two of them. He then casts Inflict Wounds at 2nd level on the one who succeeded, and he is deeply greviously injured. He is then further battered with a Spiritual Weapon. Uk-thin then attacks the other Champion, missing twice. Once again they use their bots to retreat. Virion then moves to the side and shoots two of the Champions, both shots hitting their mark, ending his bladesong. Bubbles then uses their bow to try and shoot the unhurt champion, missing both attacks and retreating.
Two of the Champions fail another Spirit Guardians save, but one stabs at Mystan thrice (missing once) and crits, dealing a Horrible Scar. Mystan uses his Spiritual Weapon for the opportunity attack, horribly injuring the guy. The unhurt Champion moves up to throw spears, hitting Mystan with one, who then retreats. The final Champion throws spears at Virion, and retreats downstairs.
Mystan then chases a champion down and kills him with Spirit Guardians, and hits the uninjured one with a Spiritual Weapon. Finally, he regroups with the party - and casts Guiding Bolt on the remaining Champion, with Channel Divinity. It hurts him, and aids the next attack roll.
Uk-thin misses and retreats. Virion runs over to the staircase and casts Lightning Lure at the one who retreated, who gets pulled up the stairs and gets electurocuted. Virion then stabs him with a sword. After this, Bubbles pokes their head around the corner and shoots at the cornered Sea Devil Champion, missing and critically hitting. He takes an arrow to the knee (limp), and takes 15. They then retreat to the hallway, again.
A Sea Devil then runs up to Uk-thin and runs them through with a spear, dealing an internal injury on a natural 20. The other Sahuagin stabs Virion twice, rendering him unconscious and with an internal injury. He then tries to throw a spear at Mystan. missing.
Mystan then runs over to Virion, casting Cure Wounds via Gift of the Metallic Dragon. As he does so, he kills the Sea Devil that hurt Virion, who is now consious. The Internal Injury is cured. The Spiritual Weapon then hits the last Champion of the Sea Devils. Uk-thin then tries to disengage, but fails their constitution save. They retreat anyways, and luckily the remaining enemy misses their opportunity attack. Virion also retreats, and casts Magic Missile at first level. Bubbles follows up by trying, once more, to shoot him with their bow. They hit and miss, putting the guy at 3 hit points and retreat a bit.
The last Sahuagin runs up to Uk-thin and misses thrice with advantage! He dies, however, of Spirit Guardians. As the party regroups, the Baron emerges with eight champions. As the party retreats, Virion casts one last fireball. The party retreats down the hall, and as the Baron's forces follow, they come upon Captain Eliander Fireborn and his men, who get a fourth level Bless from Mystan and cover their retreat with a volley of musket fire.
The party achieved a Total Victory, earning 1,400gp total from the council as well as free round passage on a ship to anywhere they please (one time deal).
Uk-thin offers Mystan Makaht's Wavecutter Blade, but he declines.
Two days later (on the 37th of Silver), Queen Othokent is hosting a victory party. The whole saltmarsh council and all the other leaders are there, as well as Lankus and Maria - but not Tomas. According to Maria (who told Virion after he asked), Tomas is in town dealing with busienss. Uk-thin uses Catapult to win the turtle-shell toss, while Virion does Driftwood surfing. But Bubbles wins for the Javan Locathah with a crazy high check - barely beating Virion because someone winked at him from the shore. The Merfolk general wins Quipper Wrestling, beating Mystan and Bubbles and earning a bone crown. Mystan then competes in Water Wresetling against Vyth, a Lizardfolk Scaleshield. Mystan and Vyth trade blows, both missing a lot. Eventually, though, Mystan wins, knocking Vyth unconsious! For his trouble, he gets a pearl worth 10gp. Bubbles is up against Garut, and uses their Javelin of Lightning. They then follow up with a rapier disarming attack, which Garut succeeds against - but falls unconsious too. Bubbles als ogets a 10gp pearl!
Everyone goes into the Fortress for the Potlatch, and we end the session.
