Session 41: The Green Corn Festival Report

General Summary

Mystan's components will arrive on the 27th of Slaying. Both he and Ciaran work on purifying food and drink on the 16th.

The day passes, and the 17th of Slaying comes. A great brunch feast is held at the Solmor Family Manor, with food from the previous harvest and ceremonial decorations. The dining room is open to the public, with a massive portrait of his late parents dominating the mantle. Skerrin Wavechaser is always at his side, and a contingent of Littlefolk servants bustle about in fine clothes serving oatmeals, cornbreads, soups, fish, and berries. Milk and honey are also served, displaying the Solmor family's immense wealth.

People of Slatmarsh! I welcome you to my home faithful that our community will remain strong this winter. We have lost many this year, and Procan willing we will not loose many more under the Ring's darkness. We have all know someone who lost a loved one at the battle for the Javan Fortress, and we Saltmarshians are no strangers to loss: pirates, raids, and outright warfare often dwell above us like stormclouds. These tempests are joined by the day to day dangers of our fishing, logging, sailing, and - yes - mining industries. While I may have been born on only the war's eve, my father was killed by the Sea Princes a month prior, and my mother went down with her ship a year ago.

As we head into our twentieth winter after the end of the Cobalt Reconquista, I pray that our shores are safe, our harvests are bountiful, and our nights are quiet. I say these things not merely as a blessing, and not to cause alarm, but to remember not just those we have lost but to celebrate that we have made it, and we will continue to make it! We are a glorious city, a rising star of the furthest reaches of our empire. May you all feast and be merry, and may we never forget our hardships; the more we are tempered, the stronger we shall become.

Selina writes in Virion as a solo act. Seklyn's daughter, Innik, is caught off guard and lets slip that she knows Virion is Seklyn's ex. The show goes on though, and it's spectacular - though Virion's act was a little off given he didn't understand there structure. Seklyn performs Leave Her Johnny Leave her. Seklyn's family and his troop are honored. Innik is doing wonderful as an MC, and Anders congragulates all the performers.

The Aryzmuit earn an additional 40gp, and Anders requests he have the honor of funding their group as a patron, should they stay in the area. Selina directs all inquiries to Tratainciym’aryzzyreph.

Ciara is in Seaton for the festival though, and rather than partake in the festivities he scopes out Castle Feldren via Conjure Animals, Speak with Animals, and Locate Creature. She then takes a Short Rest and wild shapes into a Spider, returning to scope out the innermost layers.

"Protected me? You abandoned me."

"I did not abandon you, you got exiled after ignoring all of my warnings."

After a long silence, "Why now?"



At the end of the brunch, there is a great commotion outside. Investigation reveals that Keledek the Unspoken has ridden into town on a black horse, magical fireworks via pyrotechnics celebrating his arrival. He announces that his voyage was successful and that he returned to Seaton late last night.

The people and council regard him warily but happy; he always brings magical whimsy to these festivals.
