This multi-walled dual-layered mega-kingdom sits as the heart of militarism and theology. Built upon the remains of Ao The Benevolent. Ashgate holds justice with a high regard in remembrance of his sacrifice. Military service is mandatory and needed to hold the line against the unholy machinations of the outside world.
Upper Ashgate or The Crown is where those of high military rank, patricians, theologians, and heroes of high esteem reside. Living in relative luxury to those below them. Rather than hard labor, residents are in a perpetual political struggle to climb and claim a seat in the Tetrarchy. Using their money and influence to gain as much political clout as possible.
Lower Ashgate or The Cage, named for it being within the ribs of Ao, is the central hub of Ashgate where the majority of the population resides. This is where most trade is made. Bartering is still a staple trading method among most sellers. Only higher class merchants preferring currency such as gold and silver.
The Church of Ao or The Heart, as dubbed by the more religious. The church sits at the center of The Cage acting as the hub for Theology and secondary military force in instances where Ashgate requires divine reinforcements.
