The Clouded Canyon

West from the Mask Collector's estate, and stretching hundreds of miles north and south, is the Clouded Canyon. Appearing suddenly after the Starvation, it is no natural occurrence. Impossibly steep, deep and wide, the canyon traps howling currents of wind between its walls that constantly choke the area with dust. It is completely impassable by any normal means.
The canyon effectively cuts off the eastern area of Maverot from the rest of the world and few on either side are aware of the other. Only the Solarcrats may still remember that there was once land beyond.
After the death of the Preceptor Automata, it is rumored that some of her intelligent automatons may have escaped into the canyon. If anything could survive the journey through the skin flaying winds that scream along its worn edges, perhaps they could.

Natural Resources

Siphoning Stones are common along the canyon's edge, though difficult to obtain. Further in, it's rumored that there are veins of the stones miles long and as wide as a house, but no one has ever returned from the canyon's depths to prove the story.
