Festival of Dawning Light
Throughout Brosha as the winter months grow closer to spring, a week-long festival takes place across the islands. Celebrating the longer days, the people play music and dance in the streets, hanging lanterns and lighting candles to float across the water, sometimes launching fireworks if they're available. These festivities herald the new year, and are filled with drunken debauchery by everyone, up to and including priests.--Guide to the Brosha region
Execution
The start of the festival is chosen when the moon is beginning to grow full once more. At this point people begin lighting candles and lanterns, burning the excess of the winter's stores in preparation for the new year.
Alcohol and excess food is distributed among the islands, and musicians, regardless of talent, play loudly at all hours. Very little sleep happens during this week, for obvious reasons.
When the moon is finally full, the final night is often filled with fireworks and other explosions, braziers are lit, and people run through the streets with candles and wine. As the sun rises, the festival ends, and the people prepare for the coming year.
Components and tools

Candles and torches are the most common. If you can't buy your own torches, homemade is fine. Alcohol is brought out, as is any excess food.
"It's close to the new year. That's all you need to know."
