Sacrifices to Qhil
History
Going back far past Jestoania, sacrificing blood and other items to Qhil is supposed to summon her will in order to trade. People have sacrificed their lives in exchange for immortality, while others have sacrificed parts of their body in order to change their shape.
At first, the sacrifice was an entire life, done on cliffs where flat stones offered a table and an efficient way to give the blood and body to the ocean. Later, the worship and sacrifice moved to the many caves and hidden places among the islands and continents. As it moved away from the light, the sacrifices made shifted towards smaller, more frequent offerings, such as every full moon for a year an offering is made.
Execution
The rituals are as varied as those who perform them. Blood is often offered, whether from a sacrifice or from the person performing. Trinkets and wealth may be left at shrines, food and drink poured into the sea, the only constant is that every action is to sate Qhil and request her aid in whatever is wished.
Observance
The full and new moons are one of the few constants. Some perform small rites on both nights, some exclusively perform on one or the other, still others choose to ignore these constants entirely and give intermittent gifts.
