The Mechanical Wonder
Artificer Kutlugh worked for months in his workshop, and only when it had been perfected did he reveal his creation to a select few.
She was a simple thing of copper and steel, sapphires for eyes and for a heart, a mass of gears and the cylinder of a music box. Its chest held a clock, its back input for oil. Kutlugh delicately fueled the thing, all of us waiting in eager silence. Slowly it began to move, the joints controlling its wings making it seem like a true bird. The jaw dropped, and from it's chest came the song the sirens sing, taken into sheet music and placed into a mechanical bird. I know Hatano was brought to tears, and he has written extensively already about this wondrous thing.
She has a place in our halls, a room where she may sing her song for all to hear upon the changing of the hours. When asked, Kutlugh could only name her Joy.
