Temple of Second Chances
In the southern reaches of the Valley of Baldus lies an unassuming temple of Aiden, known as the Temple of Second Chances.
History
Originally build in the Second Age as a temple of Gelder, the God of Trade, the building that would become the Temple of Second Chances started its existence as a major trade hub at he entrance of the Valley of Baldus. After the death of their god, the priests of Gelder abandoned their temple leaving the relics of their dead god behind.
The temple remained abandoned until the end of the Second Age when it was rediscovered by Orryn Smith, and Rory the thief. These adventurers plundered the abandoned temple to recover the Gauntlet of Gelder, a powerful relic that had the power to resurrect Traice, the Dryad priestess of Astrix.
When the children of Rory and Orryn followed in their father's footsteps and became adventurers they claimed the temple as their headquarters, and so it became the keep of the Heroes of Light.
During the Great War, the Heroes of Light fell and the death of Korina Smith drove the druid S'tir mad, and he used his magic the keep her body entombed in suspended animation in the temple. For the next three centuries, S'tir ruled the Valley as the "Master" and sealed the Valley away from the rest of the World.
In the year 201 of the Third Age, Titus Rorison and the Heroes of the Valley defeated S'tir and freed the valley from his control. In doing so, they managed to resurrect Korina Smith, and she was made the Arless of Baldus. In gratitude, she awarded the land and the temple to Titus, who founded a temple to Aiden, the God of Knowledge.
Titus named the temple "The Temple of Second Chances" both the reference the renewal of the valley under Korina, and his personal second chance as a leader of the faithful now that his adventuring life is over.
