The Seal of Folgrim
The current moon of Meaghana, known as the Seal of Folgrim, contains the power of the Barrens, the outer plane of desolation and loss.
History
Shortly before the great war, in the last days of the 2nd Age, Fern goddess of Loss, saw her power and influence grow to previously unknown levels. Her chosen one, Thosarith, and the Knights of the Throne in Asteria performed a ritual to destroy the vestige of Silthasias, the ancient Elvish Emperor, and in doing so destroyed the moon of Meaghana, called Krakesh. In its place, was left a gigantic portal to the Barrens that appeared to be a black hole hanging in the sky.
In the aftermath of the Great War, Hosia, the resurrected Time Lord, saw that the presence of the portal threatened to destabilize the physical world. As part of his punishment of opposing Hosia in the early days of the War, Folgrim, God of the Forge, was charged to forge a seal by which to block the power of the Barrens from the world.
Legend holds that Folgrim forged his seal from Mithril and diamonds, hanging it from the sky and anchoring it to the great gears of Mechanus that exist beneath Robanus' realm. This leads to the orbit of the moon to be exactly 24 hours with a rotation of exactly 28 days. This allowed the priests of Folgrim to reinvent the Calendar of Lerias providing the mortals a perfect measurement of days and months.
However, this seal only locks away the power of the barrens and to prevent the pressures of the plane from breaking out, the diamond seal bleeds off the dark energy of the Barrens during its dark phases. It is this power that influences lycanthropes in Meaghana, leading to their change being attached to the new moon and not the full.
