Trigelle

Until recently, Trigelle was one of many borderland cities surviving on the plunder of the so-called broken lands. However, due to the actions of an adventuring group called the Heralds of War, Trigelle was the center of the rebirth of the churches of Coronal, God of War, and Ne'olia, Goddess of Youth and Joy in early 202 TA.   In the year since, Trigelle has become a centralized power in the area as they draw upon their trade routes to help spread the world of the returned Gods, and act as a bridge between the Goshen people and the Su'daran and the other powers to the North.

Structure

Trigelle serves as a single city state that oversees a large swath of land surrounding it. While it does not directly control the surrounding towns, Trigelle does hold a great deal of influence as well as being the main trading hub for the land.   Trigelle is ruled by a Mayor, and supported as a Guild Council with members of all merchant and worker guilds in the city. The previous mayor was driven out when the Western Minotaur from the Bleeding Scourge Tribe briefly conquered the city. The head of the Innkeepers Guild, Dalisay, is currently serving as mayor. As an ally of the Heralds of War, Dalisay has strong support of the nearby churches of both Coronal and Ne'olia.

Culture

The culture of Trigelle is currently in flux. The origins of the city are older than the now fallen Gnomish Protectorates that once controlled the land. Due the the multiple conquests of the land by numerous outsiders, the original culture of the land has changed and evolved. Considered just a "Broken People" by the larger powers of the north, the people of Trigelle have recently claimed an identity as Goshen, and welcomed the Su'daran into their city openly.   This has led Trigelle to be a cosmopolitan culture and many people have come to the city to make their homes, including outcasts from Dark Port, the Wild Baronies, and Rai'jen. People of all races are nominally welcome there, though with the recent history the city has had with Minotaur, none have made the city a permanent home.   Trigelle's place as a trading center and its control by the Merchant's Guild is currently facing growing pains alongside its new religious importance with the churches of Coronal and Ne'olia. This power fluctuation is changing the city and the surrounding lands, but into what, no one is quite sure.

Demography and Population

The vast majority of the population of Trigelle, approximately 80%, are the Goshen, often called the broken people by outsiders. Goshen are those whose blood is mixed between the ancient Lentese and Kelemvites and the Ritsakans who conquered the lands in the 2nd age.   When the area was abandoned by Ritsaku, the populations eventually mixed and the Goshen became a separate people. However, when the Gnomes conquered the land and formed their protectorate they systematically destroyed the Goshen lands and did their best to eradicate their culture forcing them to conform to the laws and customs of the Protectorates.   The next large group in Trigelle are the Su'daran. The Su'daran were the Kelemvite people who hid from the Gnomes and the Ritsakans and managed to maintain most of their ancient culture separated from the rest of the lands in secluded villages hidden in the jungle. With the return of their ancestral God, Coronal, the Su'daran have begun moving into Trigelle and participating in the wider world for the first time in millennia.   There remaining population of Trigelle are a mix of various races, including the Gnomes and Ritsakan humans who are both somewhat distrusted due to the history of their conquests in the land.

Religion

The city of Trigelle has four main religions: Phoenix Emperor, the ancestral god of the Goshen; Mittierim god of Travel and Adventurers; Coronal, God of War and the Su'daran people; and Ne'Olia, goddess of Youth and Joy.   For the most part, the four religions have so far lived side by side with no real difficulties. Trigelle makes no over law against the practice of any religion with the exception of the faith of Seras is forbidden. This is not due to any disrespect to the god himself, but stems from the constant conflict between Trigelle and the minotaur tribe to the West who have sworn themselves to the lord of pain.   The center of the churches of Coronal and Ne'olia (Embershrine and the Temple of Ur-Dek, respectively), are smaller nearby villages which both rely on the protection of Trigelle, and by doing so, Trigelle gains the loyalty of the faithful.

Foreign Relations

Trigelle openly trades with Dark Port and the Wild Barronies, although their current standing with Dark Port is in question since Trigelle has outlawed Slavery, which was a main export to Dark Port in the years before the return of Coronal and Ne'olia. Some trade has also become established with Rai'jen though the southern gate city of Pingziang.   Trigelle also has some contact with the southern port city of Jacara which brings some contact with other far off lands, though Trigelle's change is too new to have established strong ties outside of the Broken Lands.

Trigelle does not have an official currency, and accepts the coinage of all the lands surrounding it. Gold and Silver coins are common for most trade, though they could be minted in Dark Port, Rai'jen, the Wild Baronies, or even ancient Gnomish or Kelemvite coins.
