Remnants of the Gnomish forces invade Asteria

The end of the Great War saw the majority of the Asteria army destroyed and the forces of the Gnome Protectorates besieging the borders of the country. The remaining troops did what they could to keep the gnomish threat at bay, to no effect.
  The priests of Brilla turned the stone walls of the city to mud and the gnomish army swarmed into the city. There, the humans were completely wiped out by the gnomish army led by the berserker priests of Brilla.
  With the fall of Northgate, the Brillan forces planned to travel south and unite the gnomish villages of Asteria against the humans. Their ultimate goal was the complete destruction of the kingdom. However, this was thwarted by the coming of the gold dragon, Kalvaris’tan. The Mountains surrounding Northgate had long been the territory of gold dragons, and with the breaking of the Dragonlord’s control over them by Menlok the Grey Dragon, Kalvaris’tan returned to his ancestral lands to rule over them again. The ancient gold dragon saw the destruction caused by the gnomes as an affront and marshalled his own power against him.
  Kalvaris’tan and his children unleashed their draconic fury on the Gnomish army. Seeing that this turn of events was perhaps the only thing that would save them from destruction at the hands of the gnomes, the Halflings of Mapledale joined into the fight on the side of the dragons.
  The gnomes, exhausted from their travels and the battle against Northgate, could not stand against this force and broke. Most of them were slain, but those who were not scattered into the lands from where they came.
  After the battle, Kalvaris’tan told the Halflings of Mapledale, that the lands were now claimed as his territory. The Halflings were quick to swear allegiance to the powerful dragon, and in return for their loyal service Kalvaris’tan promised them protection from the chaos unfolding in Asteria. With this protection, Mapledale prospered and has become one of the safest areas in the city states.
