Fae-Touched

Derogatorily referred to by some as Changelings, the Fae-Touched can either trace their lineage back to a Fae ancestor or became what they currently are by swearing fealty to a Fairy Lord, who transformed them into their current state. The two most prominent Fae Courts that quarrel between themselves, take interest in, and interfere with the affairs of mortals are the Seelie and the Unseelie Courts. The recently resurfaced Dark Fae are a group of ancient renegade Fae that swear no fealty to any of the Courts and actively oppose them, seeking to return to the old ways of abducting, enslaving, torturing, and terrorizing mortalkind into doing their bidding.

Fae-Touched tend to exhibit a greater resistance to sly words and mind altering effects commonly employed by Fae than their original kind, as well as aversion to preternatural slumber, but they develop a severe allergy to iron and other ferrous metals to the point of pain, as well as a susceptibility to fire.

To become Fae-Touched one must either swear fealty to a Fairy Lord and be willingly turned into a Fae Touched by one, or be born a s one through fae ancestry, no matter how distant. The Fairy Lord almost always requires certain stipulations to be met first such as the shedding of blood, the swearing of oaths or geas, the fulfillment of a quest, or whatever happens to suit their fancy or needs at the time. If the individual ever displeases their patron or breaks their pledge their condition may be revoked.
