Hellborn
Commonly the offspring of a demonic creature and a mortal being, Hellborn (also known as hellions, hellspawn, or tieflings) are occasionally created when a mortal willingly barters their soul (and loses) with a powerful fiend and is henceforth transformed into their thrall. Because of their tainted ancestry, Hellborn tend to be looked down upon, mistrusted, even ostracized by other beings, though a few revere them for the fiendish blood that flows through their veins. Some Hellborn reject how society treats them and their dark past, whereas others embrace their demonic lineage.
Hellborn retain the traits their mortal parent (or that of their previous race if turned), and their fiendish blood grants them greater resistance to fire, but their bodies are somewhat frequently targeted as vessels for malicious spirits as the blessings that prevent such instead cause them severe discomfort. When one is born or becomes a Hellborn, the process of shifting out of the accursed state is very difficult, as their master seeks to prevent or punish any changes to another race; it is rumoured that offering another soul in exchange or by bartering/winning/stealing their own soul back may be the only ways to escape a lifetime of thralldom.
