Medozan

Virday 7, Lastleaf (51 EoA)

Floating amongst the Void is the "Pearl of Medo", or Medozan as ancient languages have named it. The planet swirls with land and water, but also with magic flowing like rivers that don't adhere to the land. Where these rivers coalesce into "lakes", miracles can happen: wondrous landforms, cultures steeped with sorcerous power, and even the rise of previously non-existent deities.   Speaking of deities, there are the Natural Gods and the Unseen Gods. The Natural Gods control the permanent, physical aspects of the planet: the plants, water, sunlight, fire, etc. While the Unseen Gods are deities of concepts and studied ideologies: courage, invention, time, and more. The Unseen Gods outnumber the Natural Gods by a wide scale, but they also need to be replaced over time to give power to the title. Similar to how a ruler's title passes on from one generation to the next, and with it new ideas in that realm of thought. Oddly, the God of Magic (The Arkette) also falls in with these deities, despite being a fact of Medozian life.   Focusing largely on the Realm of Eastern Sicromund, an event known as "the Desolation" struck the people living there. It seemed that the deities were no longer answering their faithful, and the Elves and those with fey ancestry vanished overnight. With these omens, disaster was expected to follow. And it did. An alliance of Dragons, Draconic Sorcerers and armies of Dragonborn known as the Drakon Conglomerate swept across the land. Enslaving or destroying all who opposed them. Lead by Emray, the Smoking Scourge, there was no kingdom or army ready to oppose them.   The final city to fall to the Drakon armies was the Dwarven city of Brulbar. And when it could not protect the citizens any longer, three adventurers named Faye the Learned, Paschalis the Brave, and Kardrak the Devout lead the surviving people underground. As they retreated, Paschalis and some brave warriors held off the incoming armies while Faye sealed the interior of the planet from the outside: a wall of rainbow light erupted into existence, and prevented any passage through. Just in time as the Dragons came upon Paschalis with fang and flame. Faye and Kardrak wept for the sacrifice of their fallen companion.   Civilization remained underground for 250 years while the Drakon ruled the surface of Eastern Sicromund. Next to the ruined city of some forgotten civilization and a giant crystal sun, the remnants of the realm survived. But, it was eventually that a group of unlikely individuals: a disgraced soldier, a magical child-prodigy, and an insane goblin came across an Elven princess. The Elves had been preparing a counter attack against the Drakon forces, and it was time to return to the surface. The Rainbow Wall was lowered, and a final battle happened in the place where the Drakon Army had forced everyone underground. The group of unlikely heroes brought low Emray the Smoking Scourge, and thus was remembered The Battle of Brulbar, The Battle of Ascension.   Eastern Sicromund now is in a process of rebuilding. 50 years after that battle with the Drakon Army, a government known as the Ascendancy was born. However, new leadership experiences growing pains. Citizens began to return to somewhat normal lives, and warriors and mercenaries began sweeping across the land to reclaim lost territories and defeat the monsters that now roam them. The former armies of the Drakon began a crusade against Dragons to prove their allegiance to the new rule, and a new technological marvel known as the "Trainway" begins to work it's construction across the realm in an attempt to reconnect it. But, with all this progress and change, there are some out there who might seek to disrupt the delicate balance of a new empire.   Welcome to Medozan: The Pearl of Medo.
