Soteclan

The Sky Serpent

"She has been here since the stars themselves have graced the heavens, nay, she herself is the the sky and everything within. It is her snaking form that wraps around the cosmos and is known as the River of Jewels in the night sky. Her wrath is fierce, her power immeasurable, her will ancient, and it is her will that guides all towards the great plan. You are lucky that you still have a part to play in that plan, or she would have swallowed your soul long ago. Praise be to Soteclan, The Sky Serpent~Boroth-Godspeaker, Head priest of the Church of Soteclan   Soteclan is known by many names. The yuan-ti call her Dendarr, and the lizardmen call her Quetzalcoatl. She is the creator of both races and the guardian and keeper of the material plane.

History

Days of Woe

Unaware of what had transpired and stripped of most of her godly power, she wandered the world, using this unique experience as a break from her usual duties of holding together and protecting the planes. During this time, Sylvanus tracked her down with ease and confronted her. As the ancient goddess turned to him, ready for the god of the hunt to try and make her his prey, Sylvanus bowed before her, and offered his assistance, for he knew not to fight the god of the sky. He also wished to use this time to find a new experience, mainly in the form of hunting beings while mortal, and this included other gods. However, Soteclan was still far above him. During this period of time, traveling as mortals, the two stumbled upon the city of Urza, currently under the thumb of the cast down Asmodeus. When they made their way into the city, the god-fiend offered them tea. When questioned about the hospitality, Asmodeus simply replied "I'm a relatively young god, but when all of this is over, I'd like to exist, a state of being that you very easily change Lady of Stars". During the Battle of Gods, Sotclan sat out, but upon being challenged by the upstart god Cylostra who had killed and absorbed the essence of Sharess, the Red Knight, and Bane, she decided that the audacity of this upstart couldn't be ignored. When Cylostra raised her legendary vestige, Blood Tyrant's lust, she moved to strike Sotclan and her arms were reduced to ash, as was her vestige. Sotclan then transformed into a a massive coutl and with a deep humming laugh, swallowed the goddess whole, and spat out those who had been absorbed by Cylostra. She then gifted them their old domains back, but withed Bane's powers, only releasing them when Bane swore on an enchanted oath to never to truly cause her trouble again. Cylostra's soul, for her part, was erased from existence in the belly of the goddess and no longer exists.
