Chitin

Chitin is a material gathered from Giant Arthopods and used mainly by more tribal cultures residing in deserts and forests where resources are more scarce and such creatures are relatively abundant. 

Chitin is a strong material that forms the exoskeleton of giant arthopods and is usually used to craft armour and occasionally weapons, being of a strength similar to steel albeit with less durability.
