The Prophecy of the Suns and Moons
Long ago when the Sun and Moon elves roamed the world and built great cities from Mythril and other long lost metals. They built great towers of glass that reflected the heavens lights, both at night and day, they worshiped these lights. Prayed to them. Held them in their hearts like no other. Thus when their Archmages, who according to some had to glimpse where their holy and beloved light never shone and never will shine, called out to their people that the sun and moon had shown them words of the future. They dubbed this The Prophecy of the Suns and Moons and it was presented as a song or lullaby. Very few scholars even know of this prophecy, let alone the details surrounding it, yet it is sung by mothers to their babes. It is sung at the campfire to comfort or in some cases disturb ones company. Some how these words held in history, even despite the Devastations to the knowledge of the world.
Those who know of the this prophecy debate on if it is why the Sun and Moon elves vanished. Either out of it coming to fruition, because they feared it enough to hide from it, or if they understood what it meant and went to stop what ever it may be that The Prophecy of the Suns and Moons reference. The order in which the lines appear is even debated along with their exact meaning, however there is a common version found among the elven people. Surprisingly it can even be found among the Drow, how ever the Sun and Moon that seem to be warning of something are replaced with Heat and Cold. Likely referencing how they mark the passage of time within their underground citadels. The common version is as follows;
Come my dancing children
Dance across the gap of our worlds apart
I will guide you across the boundless dark
Fear not where you rest, fear not what you forgot.
Only fear those who bear the marks
Only fear what the marks unlock.
The time will come to bound across, when strings are seen.
Fabrics ripped at the seems. Unwoven. Undone.
Do not worry when it all comes apart my children, for we will find each other where all things convene
Worry when it all comes apart my children for that will be the day it is won, when fate no longer is spun
Find us our children we can not delay. The stars are shining warnings and the night turns to day.
The dawn will arrive, never be afraid.
