Dragonbane

The origins of this weapon are unknown but it was first recorded in history as belonging to Aenar, father of King Aegon the Conquer. Although the blade is plain, it is finely made of Valyrian steel and has a smooth dragonbone hilt. Aegon had a prophetic dream in which he foresaw the return of a Great Evil. Aegon interpreted the dream as indicating that a Targaryen had to rule a unified Westeros to counteract the threat. He had the last of the Valyrian pyromancers incise his prophecy into the blade, only revealed in extreme heat: "From my blood come the prince that was promised, and his will be the Song of Ice and Fire." After the reign of King Viserys Targaryen, the blade was lost, until it was used in an assassination attempt on Bran Stark. Lost again for a 100 years, it was found by Lord Swann and later taken by Prince Jay Dalt.
