House Handy of the Fingers, nestled in the rugged terrain of the Vale of Westeros, traces its lineage back to the ancient days of the First Men. Their seat, Dragonspire, once known as Viktor's Holdfast, stands proudly north of Coldwater Burn, a testament to their enduring legacy.
During the tumultuous times of the Andals invasion, House Handy steadfastly defended their lands against countless incursions, often aided by the Northern Kingdom and their allies, House Stark. Their resilience and martial prowess earned them a reputation for strength and valor.
In the year 5 BC, fate intertwined the paths of House Handy and the legendary Prince Aegon Targaryen, later hailed as Aegon the Conqueror. As Aegon journeyed back from the North atop his mighty dragon, Balerion, a fierce storm engulfed them over the treacherous sea. Blinded by the tempest, Aegon spied a beacon of hope—a blazing fire atop Viktor's Holdfast, which guided them to safety.
Grateful for their hospitality, Aegon forged a bond of friendship with Lord Jacob Handy, spending a fortnight within the halls of Viktor's Holdfast. Before he left, Aegon promised to return and when he did, a year late and in a gesture of gratitude, Aegon bestowed upon House Handy a priceless gift—a Valyrian steel sword from the famed forges of Old Valyria. Named the "Last Gift" by Lord Jacob, the sword symbolized the enduring allegiance between House Handy and the Targaryens, prompting the renaming of their ancestral seat to Dragonspire.
From that moment forth, House Handy remained staunchly loyal to the Targaryens, fostering a reverence for the dragonlords that persisted through generations. Members of the house were renowned for their intellect and cunning, often possessing a tall, lean stature with black and brown hair.
