Being bornt as Son of an Important Trader and sailor of the City of Lys, Merlan growth without the presence of his father, however, his presence was omnipresent. The servants and the people of the city knew, who was his father and tracted always Merlan with respect. However, the truth is that Merlan's father was in debt and the owners of the Loan didn't hesitate to stab the heart of his favourite son. R'hllor however had other plans for Merlan, who was resurrected by a red priest. Since then, he had joined the Red temple of Lys and dedicated his life to R'hllor the Lord of Light
