Ghost Tongue extract

Ghost Tongue extract is a chemical got from the Ghost Tongue plants, used most commonly on both medical as well as ritualistic purposes. The right dosage of the extract causes the user to fall in the state called as Ghostsight, that has special, religious meanings for the Damal orcs of North Velkas.

Material Characteristics

The Ghost Tongue Extract is a rather thick, transparent liquid, with black-brown hue. It has bitter taste and rather stingy smell, and it may include small pieces of leftover plant material. Smell and taste have alcohol in it, and the liquid is flammable.

Origin & Source

The extract is made from dried leaves of the Ghost Tongue plant. Leaves are left for weeks to pots filled with alcohol, that are either dug under cold earth or left to snow from 4 to 6 weeks, with insides of the pots stirred daily. After this, the leaves and the liquid is separated, the liquid used as the extract and leaves safer for other usages.

History & Usage

Everyday use

The most popular use of the extract is in medicine. The extract has a calming effect on the user, that can be used for nerves, or to help one to get some sleep. It also has some usage as a pain reliever.

Cultural Significance and Usage

In the religious ceremonies of the Damal orcs, the extract is often overdosed, causing the user to fall in a state known as the Ghostsight. During this trance-like state, the user is belied o see future events, get contact to gods and see the unseeable.

In some orc communities, the extract can only be ministered by priestesses and the uses are monitored, to make sure that there is always enough extract in case of there is a need to contact gods in this manner.

I like the description of how the extract is made. I don't think I would like the taste!
