Exemplar Unparalleled

"Everyone reacted differently to The Great Fire. The humans stayed huddled in their towns and villages, the Elves hid in the forests of Sostex, and the Dwarves and Halflings fled underground. While the Halflings stayed close to the surface, the Dwarves pushed on, they believed that their future laid below; not above. Under the surface presented challenges not seen above, so dwarvish society had to change. The triumvirate led the Dwarves during the times that came directly after the great fire." - Khosar Lorekeeper

Mythology & Lore

The Dwarves believe that while there's an afterlife, only those who set themselves apart in this life receive the right to come back and spiritually guide future generations. The triumvirate is held up as the epitome of what it means to be these guides.

Divine Origins

After The Great Fire drove the dwarves underground, they were unsure on how to proceed, some argued for an eventual return to the surface while some argued that they should embrace the underground. To settle the dispute two groups were sent out, one to the surface and the other to explore further underground. The underground group was led by Kerwyn, they braved the unknown and eventually found the area that would become Khir Darahl. Along the way he learned the secrets of crafting runes into weapons, making his signature Flaming hammer, thus earning the right to be called Kerwyn Flamehammer.

After Kerwyn reported back it was decided that they would make their new settlement by the great lava flows that were discovered, but building required different techniques then what they were accustomed to. Ailisa took the newly learned discovered rune crafting and refined the techniques to allow for great underground cities to be possible. This accomplishment earned her the right to be called Ailisa Runestone.

During the construction process the dwarves quickly realized that their metalworking techniques had to be scrapped as they were only effective on the surface. A young dwarf named Amser threw herself at the task, she was able to redesign the furnaces to handle the use of lava as the fuel for forging, instead of coals. She also figured out how to divert the lava to speed up efficiency of the smithing process, earning the name Amser Ironforge.

The selflessness of these three dwarves stood out as the paragon of what this new dwarven society stood for, they became known as the triumvirate. Their examples laid the foundations of the philosophy of Exemplar Unparalleled.

Tenets of Faith

For an individual to succeed, society must succeed: What you do has repercussions that extend beyond yourself, your actions can benefit or harm those around you. Your family, community, or town is relying on you.

One must make an effort to better themselves: Every member has a role in society, but that role could change as time marches on, there is no dishonor having to start again. As times change, an individual must be willing to change to help meet the needs of the community, and the community must be willing to help them complete that change.

Harness the power of nature, but never exploit her: Nature has given us the means to build and advance, but she can as quickly take away what she gives. If she isn't respected, her wrath can bring our world to an end.
