Kingdom on the Brink - Session 50
General Summary
The party heads out to the fort location for the tourney and they are told how the event will be conducted. There will be set waves that will appear at consistent intervals, regardless if the party has finished off the previous waves. The party sets up inside the fort, Del Varis sits upon the wall and keeps watch, Del Varis notices there are enemies approaching from the west (A Clay Golem, Alchemical Golem, Mytholabe, and an Alchemical Archer). Uriel and Merrigold blesses and embolden bond the party and Merigold moves up to the entrance, that's guarded by spikes. The Golems and Mytholabe move up while the Alchemical Archer fires a volley of arrows into Del Varis, Del Varis deflects one as it explodes in his face and sets him on fire while the other two nearly knock him off the wall. Duromar casts circle of death which hit all four of their enemies, the Alchemical Archer launches another volley into Uriel but they bounce off him due him casting shield. Del Varis jumps off the wall into the water to try and put himself out, but he hits the water because he is still wearing his ring of water walking (he takes it off to submerge and put himself out). Del Varis drinks a potion of healing and Uriel smites the Clay Golem twice, Rosemary casts spirit guardians and moves to engage the Mytholabe. The Clay Golem slams Uriel and lands a critical hit, which causes Uriel lose concentration on bless. Duromar casts immolation on the Clay Golem which sets it on fire, The Mytholabe takes light damage from the spirit guardians and misses striking Gareth with its jabs. Gareth strikes back with his hand axes with cause a loud scraping which deafens him, Del Varis, and Gregori. The Alchemical Golem uses an infusion which turns the ground into difficult terrain and slams Uriel, Uriel uses misty step and moves towards the archer and strikes several times. Merrigold finishes off the Clay Golem and closes in on the Alchemical Golem, Gregori (her animal companion) distracts the Alchemical Golem. The Archer shoots two alchemical arrows into Uriel's horse which down it and fires another arrow into Uriel. Del Varis and Rosemary use their unarmed strikes to take out several chunks of the Mytholabe, Gareth and the Mytholabe trade blows but Gareth strikes it down with a critical hit. A Stone Golem and a Void Giant (from the Berkmark mountains) arrive to the east as the second wave begins. Uriel Strikes down the Alchemical Archer and Merrigold finishes off the Alchemical Golem, since Merrigold used a flametongue the Alchemical Golem (in a last stand) redirects the elemental energy at Uriel, Merrigold, and Gregori which leaves them somewhat burnt. The party pivots to face the second wave.
Merrigold mounts Gregori and dashes along the perimeter to engage the Void Giant, Uriel summons his lion from the figurine and rides it through the fortress. Del Varis, Rosemary, and Gareth jump over the wooden stakes, Gareth yells to Del Varis that they should get the oil but Del Varis doesn't hear him due to being deafened. The Void Giant casts a 4th level magic missile at Merrigold, all darts strike true, Duromar casts firebolt on the Stone Golem. Rosemary attempts to hit the Void Giant with a guiding bolt but it fizzles into the moat, Del Varis jumps over the wooden stakes and runs across the water and begins to engage the Stone Golem. Gareth casts minute meteor and hurls two at the Stone Golem and Giant from inside the fort, Merrigold closes the distance with the Void Giant and launches a coordinated strike with Gregori. The Golem attempts to slam Del Varis but is evaded with ease and the Void Giant repositions and casts cone of cold which hits Merrigold and Gregori (leaving Gregori stunned). Uriel casts firebolt at the void giant which causes several counterspells to go off between the Void Giant and Duromar, the firebolt ultimately misses. Rosemary uses sacred flame which the Giant fails to evade, the Void Giant responds by repositioning again and casting cone of cold which damages Duromar, Rosemary, Merrigold, and Gregori (downing Gregori). The Stone Golem slams Del Varis several times but Del Varis fells the Golem and then moves to assist against the Void Giant, with Del Varis flanking the Void Giant Merrigold is able to land several devastating strikes and fells the Giant; Merrigold heals Gregori and tells him to hide (Gregori doesn't hear due to being deafened). During this time the 3rd wave of a Venom Hydra and a Steam Golem appear.
Uriel downs potions of speed, healing, and invulnerability and takes position at the bridge to hold off the 3rd wave with his lion. The Venom Hydra moves up and unleashes a venom spray which dispels the lion, Rosemary moves to help and hits the Hydra with a guiding bolt which outlines it in radiant light. Duromar follows up by casting chill touch, which lands a critical strike and prevents the hydra from regaining health, Uriel casts armor of agathy's and is covered by ice armor. Uriel smites the Hydra, the Hydra responds with a tail lash, the attack is partially resisted due to the potion Uriel took and the Hydra takes cold damage from the armor of agathy's. The Hydra grows another head from the damage it took and attempts to bite Uriel, landing only one critical hit that gets resisted. Rosemary casts toll the dead on the Hydra for great effect and the Steam Golem moves into the water and attempts to strike Uriel, but Uriel casts shield which deflects the attacks. Gareth launches his javelin of lightning at the Hydra (which is effective) then follows it up with a firebolt on the Golem (completely ineffective), Duromar is unaware of Gareth's attempt and casts scorching ray on the Steam Golem for no effects. Del Varis and Merrigold cover over 150 feet of distance and close in on the Hydra and Golem. The melee continues with Uriel Del Varis, Rosemary, and Merrigold striking at the Golem and Hydra, The Hydra grows more heads and the Golem releases a cloud of harmful steam but in the end they couldn't keep up with the strikes from the party. As the Steam Golem falls the final wave appears to the north, an Archmage by the name of Leroy and his Iron Golem named Jenkins.

The Archmage casts mirror image on himself, which Uriel tries to counterspell, but the Archmage counterspells Uriel and 3 images join the Archmage. Rosemary, Gareth, Merrigold, and Del Varis start to close the distance, the Iron Golem unleashes its poison breathe on Duromar and Uriel but it's mostly resisted. Uriel provokes an attack of opportunity from the Iron Golem (which hits, but is partially resisted) to engage the Archmage, he uses his conquering presence to frighten him but the Archmage isn't impressed (even at disadvantage), Uriel then strikes him. The Iron Golem is able to strike Duromar once, the rest of the party catches up and helps Duromar, Striking the Iron Golem several more times. The Archmage upcasts a lightning bolt which hits Uriel and Gareth but it is not enough to save his Golem as it finally falls. The party closes in on the Archmage, Uriel and Rosemary begin to trade blows, but 3 of them strike the mirror images instead. Del Varis hits the Archmage with needles that greatly hamper his ability to move. In a final desperate attempt the Archmage casts time stop, Duromar attempts to counterspell, but the Archmage counterspells that, The Archmage moves around and casts cone of cold which hits Gareth, Uriel, Rosemary, and Merrigold. Duromar finishes the fight by casting finger of death (which catches the crowd's attention) and finishing off the Archmage. The party is rewarded with 100,000 electrum and they have about 6 hours until the next event, they go into the village to get more magical equipment and potions, they also short rest.
