Black Elixir of Life

There is no known cure for Lycanthropy. Any attempts to find a truly, effective cure have been futile. However, there exists a tiny liquid which can cure Lycanthropy if ingested within 12 hours of infection. The Black Elixir of Life is a bitter, foul potion which is the last line of defence against Lycanthropy infection.

History

The Black Elixir of Life wasn't introduced into 300 AE. Before the Elixir of Life, any hunters infected by Lycanthropy often chose to end their own lives. Civilans unwillingly infected would either take their own lives as well or flee. With the invention of the Elixir of Life, there was a fighting chance to prevent Lycanthropy if the potion was ingested within 12 hours of infection.

Ingredients

Only the Head Alchemists in the Citadel in Luminous-Shine City know the real ingredients to the Elixir of Life. Rumors whisper that the potion is made up of some of these ingredients: Witches' hair, tattle root, virgin blood, Felden fingernails, or even the bones of slain lycans. Still....no one knows and rumors persist to this day.

Usage and Equipment

Once brewed, the black potion is distilled into very tiny vials and capped close. These tiny vials are inserted into necklaces, rings, amulets, and bracelets. These accessories are worn by members of the Silver Societies so that at a moment's notice, the vial can be unlocked and Elixir consumed. Necklaces are the preferred accessory because it allows for the easiest use in an emergency.

Signs of Infection

All battles with Lycans carry a high chance of infection especially in melee combat. If a Lycan manages to get bodily fluids (blood or salivia) into the wounds of a soldier or hunter, the disease has been transmitted. Severing of limbs is useless. Unless the Black Elixir of Life is taken within 12 hours, Lycanthropy will spread throughout the body.
