Extension Shields

Hunters across all Silver Societies rely upon a mix of close range and long range weapons to effectively hunt Lycans. Hunting parties will often split up which weapons are used, half with melee weapons and half with firearms.   As expected, long range hunters wield firearms with lighter, leather armor. The close range hunters wield swords, spears, and shields. Close range users must be skilled in melee combat and wear heavy, iron armor. Shields are relied upon to block fatal hits and roll off attacks. However, the shield weight and occupation of a free hand caused issues for eras.   Thus, the extension shield was born in the Astra Kingdom. A shield which could extend at a moment's notice and fold into itself, like a metallic fan. Additionally, the shield was attached to a forearm brace, allowing for use of a hand!

Instructions

1. Attach Extension Shield (Gadget) brace to forearm. Tighten restraints.
2. Once secured, adjust Gadget so it is directly on the preferred forearm.
3. A small ring acts as a trigger on the outside of the Gadget. This will extend the shield.
4. During engagement, grab the ring trigger and pull towards the front of the Gadget. The front of the Gadget will always be closest to the attached hand.
5. Once trigger is pulled, retreat hands immediately (Failure will cause a loss of fingers). The Extension Shieled will shake and expel gas (Do Not Inhale).
6. The frame of the shield will shoot out. After the frame shoots out, the metallic fans will clank, rise, and fill in the empty frame.
7. Now! There is a Extension Shield on the forearm. The fan blades have risen and filled out the frame of the Extension Shield. There is now a mobile, light, durable shield on the forearm with an open hand!
8. To retract, click a small level on the inside of the forearm brace. The Gadget will shake and retract the fan blades, shield frame will collapse, and all exposed parts will retreat into the Gadget.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
-Lightweight
-Durable
-Quick Extension Time
-Frees up a hand

Cons:
-Difficult for beginners
-Fickle Technology
-Reduced Blocking Efficency. Placing the Ext. Shield on the forearm reduces the amount of weight/force the user can apply in blocks. It is far easier to put weight/force behind a traditionally held shield than putting weight/force into a single forearm.
